MOTHER INDIA is
a compelling documentary capturing the life and stories of 25 abandoned and
orphaned children living along the railway in southern India.
There's something powerful about looking into the eyes of another...
- Rebecca St. James
David Trotter and Shawn Scheinoha travel to India in search of the stories of orphaned children. The challenge wasn't finding the children, but to find ones who would trust them to share their lives. Eventually they came across a group of 25 children ranging in age from 3 to 20 living together near the railway station.
David and Shawn were able to develop a relationship with them and the children began to share their stories. Their stories are heartbreaking. All of them abandoned and abused, they left their homes to live on the streets. They struggle daily with begging to have food, sleeping in the streets, and addictions and sexual abuse. Geetha's story broke my heart. So much pain and heartache for a child. What I was struck by as I listened to their stories is their hope for a better life. All of them shared that one day they hope to have a home of their own.
David and Shawn had to do more than hear and tell their stories. They had to take action. They approached Suresh Kumar with Harvest India and were able to place the 2 youngest children with his family. They have taken it one step further inviting everyone to join them in giving these children and over 31 million orphans in India a future beyond their life on the streets.

"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny
themselves
and take up their cross and follow me."
Matthew 16:24
In Lisa Chan's second video in the True Beauty: Finding Your Identity in Jesus series, she shared about the struggle to fight against our nature and deny ourselves to follow Christ. He asks us to lay down our lives to be His disciples. What does that look like in a world that is so self indulgent? How do we live out what Christ has called us to in the midst of a loud world?
Along with Lisa's teaching, Irene shares her story about her broken marriage. She had come to a place where she was considering divorce after many years of hurt, when her husband asked for her forgiveness. Irene admits that she struggled in this.
Jesus then spoke to her heart saying,
"Irene, I stretched out my arms like this and I took my last breath for you, but also for your husband. You want me to forgive you, but you're not willing to forgive."
This truth changed everything for her. This is just the beginning of Irene's story and how God is working in her marriage. I so loved hearing her heart.
Lisa relates some personal stories of moments that God asks her to surrender and how hard that was for her. She goes on to state that moving into that place of surrender actually brings joy and contentment.
We live in a world that shouts "Do more. Be more. Have more." This is in opposition to God's way of things. We have to ask ourselves in we believe what He said when He asks us to deny ourselves.
Don't forget we're living for something bigger,
so stop looking at things through your own lens.
- Lisa Chan
I loved this
teaching and I believe it is something that other women will be challenged and encouraged by as well.

This Is Our Time begins with five friends graduating college and moving on to find their places in the world wanting to make a difference. Luke and Ale marry right out of school and move to India to be missionaries for Embrace a Village. Catherine lands her dream job in finance and Ryder gets a job in social media. Ethan is struggling to find his purpose in life and feels left out.
Tragedy strikes and everything changes for all of them. The scene with Ethan and his father was heartbreaking. The friends wrestle with why God allowed something like this to happen and their beliefs are shaken to the core.
In the midst of the struggle, Ethan has a conversation with one of his college professors. He reminds Ethan that sometimes things don't make sense. That it isn't our time, but God's time. That we will have many questions along the way, but the most important question is - Who is God asking me to be?
Ethan gathers the friends together to deliver bracelets with messages and tells them that they have been called and that call never means easy. He reminds them that those in the Bible never had it easy, but were asked to be faithful and obedient to what God called them to do.
The friends begin to walk into their God-given purpose in a such a beautiful way. Making changes, having conversations, and ready to make a difference in the world.
"One day you think you have it all figured out and then you realize that there was something better because God is there. One day follows the next. Good times and bad times. Times where you dreams are on hold and times where they come true. Times where you feel alone and times where you feel love overwhelming. Times where you make sacrifices and times when you are overwhelmed by blessings because you're obedient and God is there. He takes all these times and He works in you. He works through you. Give it all to Him. This is His time."
- Ethan

There are just so many reasons that I love this magazine for girls. The name alone - Be Your Own You - is fantastic encouragement for girls today. BYOU Magazine speaks to the hearts of girls ages 8 and older by building self esteem through stories, advice, games, crafts, and so much more. What I love about this magazine is that it isn't just about the celebrity role models. This magazine also shares stories of real girls making a difference in their every day lives.
I especially love the features that are included in every issue. One is the "What is means to me to be your own you" feature which asks girls what that means to them and gives them an opportunity to share a little bit about themselves. I also like the "Ask Cassie" feature written by Cassandra Perkins, a Teen Anti-Bullying Advocate. This is a section where she answers questions from girls about bullying, safety, and other topics. BYOU Magazine is fantastic encouragement for girls today and a wonderful resource for moms.

I was so excited to receive the newest dish washing liquids from Palmolive- Fresh Infusions. I know you're probably thinking how strange that sounds, but I am very particular about the dish soap I use for two reasons - scent and effectiveness. I have used Palmolive before so I knew that it would work well, but was curious about the new fragrances. Out of the three available (Lemon Thyme, Lime Basil, and Ginger White Tea), I really liked the Ginger White Tea best. All of them smell wonderful, but the Ginger White Tea is so different from the citrus scents. Also what I like about these liquids is that they don't dry out your hands when you use them. That's definitely a huge bonus with as much dish washing that I do on a regular basis. The Palmolive Fresh Infusions are available at WalMart.

The scent of this body mist is called Luscious Lemon Creme and is part of the Cupcake Couture line. It smells heavenly. Like a sweet cupcake.
NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact
I love that the compact includes everything including directions on how to apply on the back. The colors were shades of gray with a bit of sparkle to them.
Kiss Ever Pro Lashes Starter Kit
I have sensitive eyes and was unable to try these out, but the directions are super easy to follow and the lashes themselves look so real. Also good that the glue is latex free.
Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin
I was most excited about these as my hair is finally long enough to style with something like this. These were so easy to use as a ponytail holder and also to put my hair into a bun. I am still getting the hang of it but really love these.
Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream
This cream is infused with grapeseed and jasmine and smells fantastic. I also love that it isn't a heavy cream which tends to weigh down my hair.
Bath & Body Works Mini Candle
I love B & BW candles. This wasn't a scent that I liked much, but my husband did. It smelled a bit too manly for me. I do love the size of it.
I also received a packet of EBoost powder, but my husband snagged it so quickly that I wasn't able to get a picture of it. He absolutely loved the natural energy boost that it gave him and the orange flavor was good as well.

I don't know about you, but between all the cleaning supplies I use and washing my hands like crazy, I have dry skin constantly. I can't tell you how excited I was to be contacted by Dermagist to try out one of their Spa Systems. The Hydrating Spa System included body lotion, hand cream, and foot cream.
I am so particular about the creams I use. I was pleasantly surprised by Dermagist's creams. Not only are they not greasy when applied, but they have a clean, fresh smell that isn't perfume-y at all. After just a few days of use, I could see a definite difference in my skin. Almost as if the previous damage to my skin was being repaired as well as dealing with the dryness of that moment. I am totally hooked on these creams.
