Breaking Out at Orange

The Orange Conference is just a few months away. This week I will be joining the Orange Bloggers in sharing our hearts about the conference, curriculum,  and the strategy of Orange. You can find a list of all the bloggers at Orange Leaders.

I am super excited to be going Orange again this year. The added bonus is that I have been asked to join the Orange Bloggers team. There are so many fantastic breakouts this year that it was very hard to choose just one for each session.

Here are the workshops/breakouts that I will be attending and a bit about each one.

Pre-Conference:

  • Leading You: The Art of Self LeadershipEvery person in ministry has multiple people and multiple areas to manage, but it all starts and ends with your ability to manage yourself to lead, model and set the example. In this workshop, we'll look at four areas of self-management all leaders face and must learn to master.
  • NextGen/Family Ministry Leadership: Leading 360 DegreesThe NextGen pastor plays from a very strategic place within a church organization. Successfully leading an effective NextGen team is simply not enough. Learning to lead up to senior leaders and across to staff peers widens the impact a NextGen team can truly have. In this breakout, we'll describe the ways a NextGen pastor can lead his/her staff peers and senior leadership in a way that eliminates church ministry silos and fuels momentum for family ministry efforts.
  • Playing for Keeps: How to Better Coach Your Team of Small Group LeadersThis session is driven by one belief: "The scope of your influence is determined by the success of your leaders." We want to help you set up your leaders to be the very best they can be. We'll start at the very beginning with the the six-step process to take your volunteers through before they start their very first Sunday on the job. We'll show you some specific volunteer roles and their expectations so that they know they are doing something significant when they walk through your doors, and we'll teach you how to "play favorites" with a select few.
  • How Do I Connect with Parents Using Online Technology?Have you ever wondered why handing out pieces of paper at the door when families leave your area on Sunday never seems to work? Have you tried Facebook in the past for your ministry and it didn't seem to work? In this breakout, we will look at how to connect with parents so that our online and offline communication turns into conversations that happen at home.

Conference Breakouts:

  • Ten Things I Do to Learn, Lead, and Network with Others Ministry can either be a lonely place or a close knit family. Experience is the best teacher but it doesn't have to be the only thing you learn from. In this breakout, you'll learn ten things Jim does regularly to learn, network and connect with others so that learning becomes a part of your lifestyle and brings you into a close-knit family.
  • The Missing Link: Marriage Ministry in the Local ChurchMarriages need help. But who can help? Who can influence multiple couples at the same time, with a consistent scriptural message, and on a regular basis? The Church. Ted Lowe shows why marriage is the Church's business and how the Church is uniquely positioned, despite being overcommitted in time and resources, to help couples build better marriages.
  • Soul Tattoo: Living Out What God Put In You - In this breakout, Craig will talk about what God has "inked" on our hearts as it relates to our life balance, leadership, season of living and our relationships. Come get inspired on how you can live out what God has put in you.
  • Better Off Without JesusSometimes it's nice to get out of a how-to workshop and simply get some insight into something that you've been wondering about in your own personal faith. How do I know when God is speaking to me-and when He is definitely not? This session is based on Chuck's most recent book, "Better Off Without Jesus", and looks at practically discerning the voice of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We'll take a look at John 16:7 where Jesus says, "It is to your advantage that I go away."
