Bringing Up Bobby - A Review

bringingupbobby

Bringing Up Bobby is a story about family, faith, and friendship. Bobby is turning 16 and his whole family is coming home to celebrate with him.

He is being raised by his brother, James, as his parents passed away years ago. This is the relationship that interested me most in the movie. I loved the "War Table" scenes- costumes and all. These are the moments all parents want to have with their children to foster communication with love and humor. This is where James challenges Bobby to find out who he is and what he believes after Bobby says, "I believe what you believe." when asked about his faith.

I also love the relationship they have with Bobby's friend, Eric, as he goes through a difficult time at home. James mentors him and Bobby loves his through it all. I thought the moment Eric opens up to his teacher about what is happening at home was done so well.

I have to admit that the part of the movie dealing with the inheritance with Andrea and Dennis took a backseat to the relationship between Bobby and James. I did however love that Bobby took a stand for family over money.

This is a great movie about a young man searching for who he is and who God wants him to be.
