Angel House

India is the 2nd most populous nation in the world with 1.2 billion people, following behind China. Research shows that by the year 2020, India will take the number one spot. Of these precious people, there are an estimated 25 million orphans roaming the streets. That's 25 million children waiting to be rescued, and it is our mission to do so.

We believe every one of these Indian orphans deserves a true childhood. In India, children that are left abandoned on the streets most likely end up in 1 of 3 places: trapped in force child labor, begging on the streets, or sold into sex slavery. Chances are that once these children are subjected to one of these lifestyles, they rarely find their way out. At Angel House, we feel an urgency to passionately pursue this rescue and to save the children before it is too late and act as a preventative measure.

It is the passion of Angel House to bring abandoned children from the slum to safety and into the loving arms of caretakers that will educate, love and raise them to become future leaders in their generation.

Stella's Voice provides a home for poverty-ridden girls in Moldova after they are aged out of the state-run orphanages at the young age of 16. The ministry also has the only Christian orphanage in the country, as well as a separate home for boys.

Stella's Voice is more than a cry for help and rescue. It is also a beacon of help and hope, making an eternal difference for desperate children.

"Courage Worldwide (CWW) is an non-profit Christian organization that is building homes around the world for children rescued out of sex trafficking. It is our passion and vision to build Courage Houses in every city that needs one so rescued children will have a safe place to call home. We also want to eradicate sex trafficking completely."

Due to the violence and trauma that victims of sex trafficking suffer and its portrayal in the music video, “Call Me Family”, we do not recommend children under 13 years of age viewing it without parents input and /or supervision.

These girls long for a family and a safe place to call home…

Entering the Bat Cave - The Exodus Road

Today for Missions Monday I wanted to share this fantastic article 

from one of our team members at The Exodus Road - Kelley J. Leigh.

Do you ever feel discouraged about how to enter the enormous gap between human trafficking and life in the suburbs?  Exodus Road staffer, Kelley J. Leigh, is an ordinary  middle-aged mom to four sons and recently wrote an article over at Burnside Writers Collective about the paralyzation we ‘regular’ people feel about what to do when it comes to sex trade.  She describes her friendship with the founders of The Exodus Road candidly:

“ … frankly, having social justice superheroes as friends comes with issues; like, the constant nagging feeling that I am in reality, a total social justice slacker — like Lois Lane standing outside the empty telephone booth wondering where Superman went.”

But she offers us an accessible way to begin our own journey into social justice:

I decided it doesn’t matter who gets to be Batman or who is Alfred. 

We are all in this together.

My former social justice slackitude stemmed from my belief in super heroes. “Those people” do this stuff, not me. “I’ll just leave them to their supernatural business and check in on them every once in awhile.”  However, I now see them simply as ordinary people who have followed God, one harrowing step at a time.  They didn’t start out as superheroes.  Back alley brothels and hidden cameras only entered the story after a long  series of small choices stepped them toward the bat cave.  It’s the same for all of us.  After the smallest pause and question, “What now?”  "What Next?” is always an invitation.  It’s a Jesus invitation. “Follow me.”  Steps which obediently follow inevitably lead us to love God or love people in powerful and unimaginable ways.

And what does the LORD require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:8

My friends’ journey to empower rescue started out as a tangled ball of wire, unwound one turn at a time, until it stretched around the globe.  I have been in a similar tangle, wondering what to do next.  I don’t get to fly to the places where children are freed, but I do get to support people who unlock the prisons. And I can’t speak to US diplomats about prosecution and legislation, but I can write for change. I can redirect my weekly “skinny cinnamon dolce latte” money to the purchase of needed investigative equipment. It starts in the little things toward God’s heart.

One turn at a time.  One seed of holy unrest, watered.   One humble step. One choice to say “Yes” to the One true God who has a heart to rescue us all, one soul at a time.

Start small.  Water the seed. Let it grow.

Be a hero in this larger story.

Kelley J. Leigh lives in a quirky little mountain town in Colorado.  At mid-life she decided to leave behind full-time marketing and consulting work to focus on writing.  The rest of her time goes to her husband, four sons, and the recovery of lost car keys. Forsaken Generation

"Forsaken Generation is more than just an organization, we are a movement. We are made up of hundreds of volunteers from all across the country dedicated to ending domestic minor sex trafficking right here in the United States.

According to the State Department 34 children every. single. hour. Right here in our country will be forced into the horrific world of child trafficking. Every year that's 300,000 children.

The mission of Forsaken Generation is to prevent domestic minor sex trafficking from taking place through the implementation of our human trafficking educational curriculum which is aimed at educating middle and high school students nationally. We will work to create better policies on both the state and federal levels to provide better protection for child trafficking victims and significantly stronger penalties for traffickers. Our Oasis shelter project will rescue and restore domestic trafficking victims through an extensive Christ centered holistic program."

Today, We've Disappeared

Fasting for Freedom

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: 

to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, 

to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?

Today I am beginning a week long time of fasting and praying for those 

in the bondage of slavery and those working so hard to help free them.

As part of The Exodus Road team, I have listened to the stories 

and viewed the pictures that make me weep.

Stories like Sarah's and the pictures of children.

They have become more than statistics for me.

My heart is broken for them.

Each one is mine to lift up to Him.

What is the A21 Campaign?

Today I would like to introduce you to the A21 Campaign.

As stated on their website,

"The A21 Campaign is comprised of individuals, organizations, government officials, and people like you who are committed to abolishing injustice in the 21st century. Our goal is to raise awareness, take legal action where appropriate, and offer rehabilitation services to rescued victims of human trafficking in order to fight this injustice from a comprehensive approach. Additionally, we want to branch out to address this issue from a preventative standpoint, aiming to cripple the human trafficking trade so there are fewer victims that need to be rescued."

Statistics

•Trafficking in women is the second largest global organized crime today, generating approximately US$12 billion a year.

•There are 1.39 million victims of commercial sexual servitude worldwide.

•Tragically, only 1-2 percent of victims are rescued, and only 1 in 100,000 Europeans involved in trafficking are convicted.
