The Wrong Door

Today I am joining Lisa-Jo and friends for Five Minute Friday.
This is where we come together writing for 5 minutes without editing or overthinking.
I love this community.

Check out what everyone's is sharing on the word CHANGE today here.

Five Minute Friday

Here's mine...

I know it's coming.
Change.
I can feel it in the air.
She speaks it over me.
Tells me that God has something new planned for me.
That with everything I share, she can tell it's coming.
And the scary thing is that I can too.
A new thing.
I have been praying for doors to open,
but I think maybe I was looking at the wrong door.
That door that I didn't just beat my fist against,
but hit my head against it a few times as well.
I have been praying...
Lord, just open the door.
Waiting in expectation.
Waiting in frustration.
It didn't budge.
Not even a crack in that door.
And when I least expected it the door behind me has been inching it's way open.
That door she has been pointing me to that I just didn't want to see.
One that when I walk through it will challenge me more than ever before.
Walking straight out of my comfort zone and into what He has for me there.
I shuffle towards it thinking
is it really for me?
how can I possibly walk that out?
and the reality hits that I can't.
not without Him.
so today I take a big huge step through that door.
knowing that it wasn't the one I prayed to open
but it's the one He opened for me.
I can rest in that.
He's there waiting.

For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun!
Do you not see it?
Isaiah 43:19

  1. Change IS scary especially when it is not the way we anticipated or dreamed, but HE knows the way and HE never changes! Praise God!

Thankful that even when we don't see Him, feel Him or hear Him, He's still working. Unexpected doors are always a thrill.

  7. LOVE IT!! Yes! I've been doing the same thing, beating my head up against a door that wasn't supposed to open as another one behind me is. You're right, you can't do it on your own. You're not supposed to. That's because HE wants to do it in you. Good job!

    Blessings!

  14. Hi Wendy - what a beautiful and touching post! I loved this, from the verse, to your writing, to the image of that intriguing, yet wrong door. Thank you for sharing this! I have banged my head on my share of doors, and as we all can, I relate. This was beautifully expressed... "knowing that it wasn't the one I prayed to open but it's the one He opened for me."
I discovered your site through alittleunhinged.com's Blog Hop.
I am so gladd I did! :) Have a beautiful weekend, and a joyous journey through that new door!

  16. Thank you for dropping by, Wendy.

I love this, "And when I least expected it the door behind me has been inching it's way open."

I am right in the verge of a door which was the door He wanted me to see. It is quite unsettling but I am now seeing it. But when God answers our prayers, or opens doors for us, it would be for the best. Yes there will be some changes, struggles and adjustments to tackle. But the beauty is.... it is right there in front of you-wide open. Go for it. Blessings.
