Five Minute Friday - Beyond

Five Minute Friday

Joining Lisa-Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday for the first time today...

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

OK, are you ready? Please give me your best five minutes on:::

Beyond…

Baby, there's something beyond this.

I know it was your first love. I know you never felt that way about another person before. I know your heart aches with the pain of goodbye.

But I promise you from the bottom of my heart that there is love beyond the loss. That there is healing beyond the pain. I know it is so hard to see past your broken heart today. But there are promises of forever in your future.

Cry if you need to. Mourn if you need to. I will be here to hold you. Comfort you. You are my son and you have loved and lost for the first time. I see the pain of it all in your eyes and in your smile and my heart hurts for you.

You loved for the first time with complete abandon. Oh how my heart sings for that. That you expereinced that beauty. That your heart was full. I promise you that what is beyond this moment is even better than that. You might say goodbye again but it is so worth it for the hello.

So today I hold your hand and listen to your heart
and tell you over and over again how much I love you.

And remind you of the promises beyond the pain.

  1. Awww... I love this post.. I haven't been here yet with any of my children but I know the time will be here probably sooner rather than later. Welcome to 5 minute friday! I have only participated a couple times, but what comes out always surprises and delights me.

I look forward to getting to know you better!

  3. Hi Wendy,

Nice to meet you! Ahh, poor guy. That caught me up and got my compassion going for him, especially since I work with teens, and I have two teens of my own as well, plus a four year old.

    Have a great week.
