What I'm Reading

Doing this series on Wednesdays gives me an opportunity to share what I am reading. This may vary from week to week as I tend to read multiple books at a time.

Right now I'm reading this book by Henry Blackaby and Tom Blackaby. In this book the authors talk about those who are called to be companions to leaders and the important role they play in God's work.

In the introduction Leonard Bernstein is quoted as saying, "The hardest instrument in the orchestra to play is second fiddle." The authors point out that there are no second fiddlers in God's eyes. Everyone has a valuable role to play and none is more important that the other.

In Corinthians we are reminded that we are all part of one body.

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:12

Some will be leaders and others will be encouragers and companions to those leaders. Barnabas is an example of one called to be a companion as we read throughout Acts how he served God as an encourager to Paul. Even his name described his calling as Barnabas means Son of Encouragement. He is just one of many who were called to take this journey with Paul.

I am really enjoying this book so far.
What are you reading right now?
