Infusing Orange

My first pre-conference break out was Innovation Infusion with Sherry Surratt. I knew I was in for an experience when Sherry started the session in prayer asking to "Dream wild with You, Lord!"
There is a difference between creativity and innovation.
Innovation causes change.
Create your own Ministry Thinkubator.
She spoke about having spaces to encourage creativity and collaboration. She gave some ideas including vibrant wall colors, comfortable couches, toys, and bubbles. You want to think out of the box then you might have to get out of the box you are doing your thinking in.
She suggested taking a field trip to a place kids go for fun and ask these questions to get the brainstorming started:
-Why do kids come here?
-What about the environment attracts kids?
-How are they treated while here?
Five steps to embrace innovation:
1. Examine the now and the next.
Is what you are doing yielding results?
2. Engage your creative spirit.
What if there were no constraints?
3. Explore your options.
Are you jumping on an idea too quickly?
4. Establish your path.
Do you know what your goal is and what you want to accomplish?
5. Evaluate progress.
Are you celebrating as well as recalculating?
