Missions Monday - Oxfam America

It's time for Missions Monday.

Every Monday I will introduce you to some great charities that you can get involved in. When I say get involved, I mean you can donate your money, time, and/or pray for these organizations who are doing amazing things to help people.

Today I would like to introduce you to

From the website:

"Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local groups in more than 90 countries, Oxfam saves lives, helps people overcome poverty, and fights for social justice. We are one of the 17 affiliates in the international confederation Oxfam."

Our planet produces enough food for everyone, yet nearly one billion of us
(1 in every 7 people) still go to bed hungry.

Oxfam is joining forces with organizations around the world
for World Food Day on October 16th.

Oxfam's GROW campaign is rolling out five easy ways for people who care about hunger to help. Trying any of these principles, and encouraging your friends and family to as well, could make a real impact and help address the problem of millions of people that still don’t have enough food on their plates.

  2. Hi Wendy,

I haven't heard about World Food day, but it's good to know about that. Thanks. I was hit by the book "Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger."

    Have a great week.

  3. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about World Food Day either, but as a classroom teacher for many years, I saw firsthand, how many go without enough to eat. It's heart-wrenching. I'll definitely be looking into it. Have a great evening!

    1. Trinity I know what you mean. I spoke with our local food bank recently that does a program sending food home with kids in a backpack each Friday and was shocked to hear how many kids are part of it. Blessings!
