An Open Invitation

One of the things I love about D is how he intentionally
invites our boys into everything he does.

He is often saying to them,
"Come see..."
"Come learn..."
"Come do..."

Our youngest, Zachary, loves doing projects with daddy.
Add a paintbrush and paint and he is in heaven.
Here are a few pictures of their latest project - our porch swing.

More than the actual activity, Zachary loves chatting with D during these times together. They talk about everything from school to the Zachary's latest favorite video game.
He loves the fact that he has his daddy's undivided attention.

It is one of the greatest gifts that D could ever give our sons
...an open invitation.

How are you intentional about inviting your children into what you do?
What kinds of things are you doing together?

  2. So cute! I often feel like I'm running around the house doing, doing, doing but each day I say "I'm sitting down now!" and within seconds I have a lap full of kids--I love it.

Sometimes, that's it--I'm sort of done for the day and will handle the piles tomorrow--because there are ALWAYS piles.

    Be blessed.

    1. Oh those dreaded piles! You are so right in saying that they can be left to wait. Those precious moments with our kids can't. Blessings!

  6. I saw your beautiful, big smile from Our simple country life blog. I absolutely agree with your post. Sometimes, just because we are staying home and be with the kids, it doesn't mean that is enough. Quality time is so important. I have to remind myself more often. Thank you for sharing!!

  8. That's beautiful! I use meal-time (typically lunch when it's just me and the kids) to talk about what's going on with them. They tell me all day long, but that's when I intentionally ask them about what they're doing and what they love. It's a really great time.

    1. What a great time to chat with our kids...over a meal. That is why I feel so strongly about family dinners. We use that time as well. Thanks for sharing about yours! Blessings!
