Dear God...

Dear God...

For as long as I can remember I have loved being in the world of children.
You have given me such a heart for them.

I remember building block forts and having tea parties with the toddlers in the nursery while I was still in grade school. I went on to babysit as a teenager having nights of popcorn and movies. In high school I worked in a preschool with 4 year olds teaching them and playing with them. Coming full circle, I am now loving on kids in children's ministry and telling them about You.

I know Your heart for children.
You speak so often of them in Your Word.

They are a gift.

Children are a gift from the Lord;
they are a reward from him.
Psalm 127:3

They are an example.

Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me."
Matthew 18:2-5

They are blessed.

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.
Mark 10:13-16

We are called to love them, teach them, protect them,
and provide for them throughout Your Word.

Today I come to You for the children of Compassion
I come not understanding but fully trusting.
I know Your heart for them.
I know You have them in the palm of your hand.
That You love them best.

Lord, I am praying that these children will all be sponsored.
That You will break our hearts and in doing that our love for them will grow.
That through these sponsors, they will be taken care of both physically and spiritually.

What I desire most is that they would come to know and love You.

I am standing on Your promises for them today.

The eyes of all look to you in hope;
you give them their food as they need it.
When you open your hand,
you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
Psalm 145:15-16

Thank you, Lord, for giving me a heart for children.
Thank you for letting me be a part of their world.
Thank you for the children.

September is "Blog for Compassion" month and I am so blessed to be joining other bloggers in raising awareness for the most vulnerable and needy children in the world.
Compassion's goal for this month is to have 3,108 children receive sponsorship.
837 of these children have already been blessed with sponsors.
Will you join me in praying for the remaining 2271?
