Not For the Faint of Heart

Because he bends down to listen,
I will pray as long as I have breath!
Psalm 116:2

Listening to the prayer requests of children is not for the faint of heart.

Their requests can break your heart into tiny little pieces.

Here are just a few that my small group girls have shared with me recently.

My dad's getting ready to go to jail. Could we pray for him?

This week is the court case to decide if I can stay living with my daddy.
Could we pray for me to stay with him?

My grandma is sick with cancer in the hospital.
I want us to ask God to heal her. I don't want her to die.

My friend doesn't go to church. I've been telling her about Jesus.
Can we pray for her to come here with me?

We pray for each one during small group.
Sometimes the girls will pray outloud for each other.
Oh to hear them come to Him with such faith.
This really is one of my favorite parts of small group.
I have the opportunity to pray over, for, and with each
of my girls every week during our time together.

I also pray for them throughout the week.
I write down each request and keep it in my Bible
to remind me to pray for these along with all the other requests.

Do you take prayer requests during small group?
How do you remind yourself to pray
for your small group kids through the week?

  1. I decided recently to pray like a child. One who believes that her Daddy will take care of her and provide whatever she needs. I think it's great that you are encouraging these young girls like this!
