Family Movie Night on a Budget

Taking your family to the movie theater for Family Movie Night can be pretty pricey these days. Between tickets and snacks it can really attack your budget. Our family has come up with an alternative which is having it in our home instead of at the theater.

Here are some ways that we have a fun evening together within our budget.

Movies: We subscribe to streaming Netflix for $7.99 a month. This service offers alot of family friendly movies as well as tv shows. We also use RedBox which offers several movies for only $1 a night. Our local library also offers a selection of movies for free.

Snacks: We get our snacks at WalMart usually. We can get microwave popcorn at a low price. They also carry boxes of candy just like the movie theaters for only $1.

We usually lay blankets on the floor and cuddle on the couch during the movies. Having our Family Movie Night at home also gives us an opportunity to discuss the movie which isn't possible while watching in the theater.

This is one of our boys' favorite things to do as a family...ours too.

What do you do as a family for fun?

  1. I just love watching movies at home. We make homemade popcorn, generally on the stove and have fun mixing in different spices, cheese, or pb and honey. Thanks for linking up with me this week, Wendy.
