Doing this series on Wednesdays gives me an opportunity to share what I am reading. This may vary from week to week as I tend to read multiple books at a time.
This is an incredible book on the way that Jesus led as a servant. In the chapter I just finished the author talks about the confidence that Jesus had to lead based on John 13:3 which says,
"Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God."
From the book:
- Jesus knew that God "had put all things under his power." - He knew that God was in control of his life and ministry. He had come to do the will of his Father and all power came from the Father.
- Jesus knew "he had come from God." - Jesus knew that his Father in heaven was the source of his mission in life. This led to his confidence that what he was doing was God's plan for his life.
- Jesus trusted that he "was returning to God." - Jesus trusted that his life would not end in death. He knew that He would return to his eternal place as God in heaven.
Jesus knew who he was; he knew whose he was; and he knew where he was going. When we are sure of these three truths, we have nothing to fear.
