Missions Monday

I have started something new on Mondays here on my blog - Missions Monday. I am going to be linking you to some great charities that you and your family can get involved in. When I say get involved, I mean you can donate your money, time, and/or pray for these organizations who are doing amazing things to help people.

Today I would like to introduce you to Lost Sheep Ministries. I heard about them on the radio and was intrigued after hearing the director, Maxine Raines, speak on that same radio station.

Here are just two of the programs they provide:

Under the Bridge Ministry: Every Wednesday night, Lost Sheep feeds and clothes 400-500 people in need—old, young, men, women, and children. Lost Sheep does not duplicate services provided by other local organizations; rather, Lost Sheep partners with existing organizations and refers clients to the groups that can best meet their needs.

Nightclub Guardian Angels: On Saturday nights, Lost Sheep works in Knoxville’s Old City with young people for whom a “good time” has gone too far. Between 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., volunteers offer a safe place, food, coffee, prayer, and a few hours to sober up before driving home. Sometimes a call to a friend, a family member, or a taxi cab gets a young person safely home. On occasion, Lost Sheep volunteers help save lives when an overdose of alcohol or drugs is involved. Lost Sheep has built relationships with many who frequent Old City nightclubs—if someone is in trouble, folks know to go to Maxine.
