I Can't Move My Feet

Today I am joining Lisa-Jo and friends for Five Minute Friday.
This is where we come together writing for 5 minutes without editing or overthinking.
I love this community.
Check out what everyone's is sharing on the word JOIN today here.

Five Minute Friday

Here's my 5 minutes:

JOIN.

all I have to do is walk across the room.
they have invited me to join them.
but I can't get my feet to move.
in my head I hear
did I wear the right thing?
will I say the right thing?
what if I trip over my feet and my words?
do I look as crazy as I feel in my head right now?
I can't move my feet.
I so want to join them.
I want to be part of that group.
my hands are soaked.
my mouth is dry.
one of them looks over and smiles.
I hold my breath.
she walks over to say hello.
ok self...smile and say hello back.
you can do this.
you can move.
you can join.
just put one foot in front of the other.
she takes hold of my hand.
she says what's in my head.
girl...you can do this.
you are welcome here.
come.
join.
and my feet move.

When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in you.
Psalm 56:3

  5. Wendy, I love how you put this. So often, fear of rejection keeps us frozen in our place. So much easier to just stand there and then beat a hasty retreat.

May we all be like the one who comes over and encourages us to join.

    1. Oh Beth...yes that is so what He would do. He constantly welcomes those who are afraid, feel inadequate, think they are unworthy. And with such love. So thankful for those open arms of His. So blessed to connect with you!

  12. I so love your heart and transparency. I've been there, too. Your feet feel as though you're ankle deep in cement. So thankful for those who reach a hand out of their heart to welcome us. May we, in turn, do the same.
